Organised by Andy Pinkard, West Berkshire CAMRA – acting Membership Secretary (vacant post)
While the Central Southern Region is no more, it hasn’t changed the fact that for Branches in the Home Counties,
London is natural transport hub. This ramble carries on the annual tradition of a London based inter Branch get together.
I must give credit to both the CAMRA London Pub Walks, the inspiration to explore the Pimlico / Belgravia area, and
WhatPub whose Pub descriptions by CAMRA members were invaluable and the Pub descriptions included are
simply excerpts from those descriptions.
If you visit every pub then over the afternoon you will have walked 2.7 miles possibly more depending on where you
choose to start or finish.
The day kicks off at Cask Pub & Kitchen, they are expecting us from opening time (12:00) onwards.
The nearest bus service from Paddington is No 36. Pimlico is the nearest tube station.
They offer a simple ‘burger’ based menu and all the recce party agreed that they were excellent. I suggest if you plan
to eat then reserve a table (via the website), so you have somewhere to sit.
You could enjoy a late breakfast at the voucher friendly establishment at Victoria Station before catching a bus / or
steady walk to the start.
The majority of the Pubs today are small Mews pubs, so depart at a time of your choosing to avoid queuing and
extended vertical drinking.
The Orange Pub is included as a possible rest stop, about a 15 min walk. Opposite the small Saturday Market offers a
variety of comestibles for your edification and enjoyment.
From then on pubs are close together, five mins walk or so between. If one is busy then loop back around later if
you wish.
The 36 bus back to Paddington can be caught from bus stop outside the gated Hyde Park entrance
See ‘Event Links’ above for an A4 printable pdf document with the map and pub details.
