Newbury & District buses have recently introduced a Friday / Saturday evening service on the number 2 bus making the Gun easily accessible from Newbury.
Meet up with CAMRA members and enjoy a sociable night out with live music and cask ale.
Itinerary:
The Wharf, Newbury (next to the Library) 20:30 Number 2 bus to Wash Common
also stops at Old Post Office (opposite Catherine Wheel) and Market Street (near Cow & Cask / Delphic Taproom / Newbury station)
Get off bus at ‘Elizabeth Avenue Top’ stop: 20:41
Tim Thomas, Branch Pubs Officer, will meet passengers at the stop and lead the way to ‘The Gun’, 142 Andover Road. (0.2 miles, a 5 minute level walk).
Self Preservation Society will perform in one of the two bars at the pub on its opening weekend. There are plans for cask ale from local breweries to be available.
22:10 leave pub and walk back to ‘Elizabeth Avenue Top’ stop on west side of the road. There is a shelter at this stop.
22:20 #2 bus to Newbury Wharf (arrives 22:30)
Alternatively, remain at the pub and later walk down Andover Road back to Newbury. (1.4 miles to Newbury station, a 30 minute walk).
