Diary : Visit to Ealing Beer Festival
Visit to Ealing Beer Festival
Mattock Lane, Ealing, London
- W5 5EQ
Join West Berkshire CAMRA members on a visit to Ealing Beer Festival on the afternoon of Friday 15 July.
The large outdoor festival is held in Walpole Park, a short walk from Ealing Broadway station.
Advance tickets are available (£20 / £18 CAMRA members) that include priority entry, £10 beer tokens (any credit remaining is refundable), a souvenir beer glass (non-returnable) and a programme.
Suggested travel arrangements: Catch the (stopping) train to Reading from Newbury that departs at 11.06 am (arrives Reading 11.36). Sit in the front coach of the train. Then catch the first available train to Ealing Broadway e.g. Elizabeth Line with an approximate arrival time at the festival of 1pm.
According to the Great Western Railways website it is possible to use an off-peak day return ticket to return during ‘rush hour’ using the Elizabeth Line service to Reading.
The cost of an off-peak day return ticket from Newbury to Ealing Broadway (not via London Paddington) is £21.70. Railcard holders save 33% on this fare (£14.30).
If a group of 3 or more travel together, outwards and return, a Group Save Ticket also offers a discount on the full fare.
When buying a train ticket please ensure that you purchase an off-peak day return (not via London Paddington) in order to obtain the correct price ticket.
Note that railway websites may not offer the 11.06 train from Newbury as an option for travel to Ealing Broadway because it is a slow service and there is not a good connection at Reading. However, tickets will be valid on this train. If buying train tickets online, another service can be selected and the ticket will be valid for the 11.06 train.
If you are going to meet the group at the festival then the likely location is near a large shade providing tree in the far corner of the site. Look for a display of Ullage magazines on a table as a marker.
(As seating is limited, it may be worth bringing something to sit on if you want to guarantee a seat. If it is sunny don’t forget sun protection as a shaded spot may not be available. It is possible to bring sandwiches etc but a variety of food vendors will also be at the festival.)
