Regulars at the Cow and Cask micropub in Inch’s Yard, Newbury, have banded together
to create a 2027 wall calendar based around the activities of the pub itself and their own
group extra-curricular pursuits. All images suitable for a family audience, of course.
The calendar is being sold for £10, with the entire sum being donated to the Cinnamon Trust.
A national registered charity, The Cinnamon Trust provides practical support for those
who can no longer care for their pets due to their own old age, infirmity or terminal illness.
You can find out more about its activities here: About The Trust – The Cinnamon Trust.
Photography for the calendar was carried out throughout 2026 and provided considerable
entertainment in its own right, as various groups and individuals were invited to pose for
the camera. Naturally the calendar displays 12 full-sized pictures but also contains as many
candids depicting life at “the Cask” as possible in the space available.

The Cow and Cask was founded in 2014 by Ian Batho, who continues to operate it as a
beloved meeting place for local real ale drinkers and who has ensured its well-merited
serial appearance in the national CAMRA Good Beer Guide. 2027 will see Ian rack up his
1000th different ale – probably in February!
Copies of the calendar will be available initially at a launch event planned for Friday 6 November at 6pm.
The calendar can be purchased by dropping in at the Cow and Cask during its
opening hours (Tuesday to Saturday) after the launch event.
Cash payment is preferred (to maximise the amount going to charity) but cards are
accepted.
