Community Pubs Week - Best Community Pub 2013. - Winners - The Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury.

The Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury, has won the West Berkshire CAMRA Best Community Pub 2013 award on 23 April, during Community Pubs Month. Congratulations to Gary and Mandy Bush and team on winning this award for the second time. 



Several pubs in West Berkshire were nominated for the West Berkshire CAMRA Best Community Pub award including the White Hart, Thatcham; the Swan Inn, Inkpen; the Bladebone Inn, Chapel Row and the Blue Ball, Kintbury.
However, the Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury was the clear winner for the second year.

One nomination begins ‘The Bush family and The Cottage Inn make a huge difference to the local village community. They support every event, no matter how big or small, and have managed to create a pub with a fantastic atmosphere where you can always be assured of a friendly welcome.’

Another nomination for the Cottage included over thirty points including: fireworks display; sponsoring new kit for Bucklebury Grays football team; charity fun day (next one on Saturday 15 June); car boot sales; supplying Bucklebury beerfest in October; animal enclosure behind the pub car park with goats, chickens and rabbits.

On 23 April, Andy Pinkard introduced the presentation made by Glenn Parsons, Branch pubs officer, to Gary and Mandy Bush. Afterwards, Gary thanked Mandy for all her hard work behind the scenes. He thanked all the staff, especially Tom in the kitchen and gave 'thanks to CAMRA who have been a big support and a huge thank you to all our customers'.
