West Berkshire Branch of CAMRA

Five Bells, Wickham ~ CAMRA Berkshire Pub of the Year 2014

[Mark Genders & Richard Scullion]

The Five Bells, Wickham, is the West Berkshire Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Pub of the Year 2014 and Cider Pub of the Year 2014, after featuring in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2014.

Branch chairman, Richard Scullion, presented the two framed certificates to Mark Genders at the thatched country pub on 6 May. Afterwards visitors and guests enjoyed the chance to sample a range of cheeses, generously provided by the pub to celebrate the occasion. Choices from the changing selection of nine ales and eight draught ciders provided matching liquid refreshment.

In the latest round of judging, the Five Bells emerged as the CAMRA Berkshire Pub of the Year 2014 after a contest with the Nag's Head, Reading; the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst and the Carpenter's Arms, Windsor. Good luck to the Five Bells which now goes forward to the Central Southern region round, in competition with the Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage and the Rising Sun, Berkhamsted.
