Ale Amble from Newbury to Kintbury

On Saturday 27 July, Andy Pinkard led an Ale Amble stopping at 3 pubs en route.

Starting from the Hatchet Inn, Newbury at 11 am, Andy, Mike, Jayne, Sarah and Tony walked to the Craven Arms, Enborne, initially following the Kennet & Avon canal towpath.

Tim and Paul were waiting for their arrival. It was still damp weather so pints of Wadworth 6X, IPA or Swordfish were enjoyed inside.

From the three Saviour beers available we all chose Saviour Gold. The weather was still damp so we stayed indoors.

Before leaving the White Hart, the group posed for a photo in front of the small building that houses the Saviour brewery.

Andy led the group on a route along minor roads and footpaths to Irish Hill where there are fine views to the south. We rejoined the canal on the other side of the hill and followed the towpath to Kintbury, crossing the canal to reach the Dundas Arms.

Here the group caught up with Richard who had arrived by train from Newbury and we sat outside at the front of the pub, by the canal.

Returning to Newbury by train, a few called in at the Cow & Cask for a final pint.
